Patrick Van de Wille is a seasoned communications strategist with over three decades of global experience spanning journalism, media relations, corporate communications, investor relations, and public affairs. Based in Brussels and France, he has advised clients across North America, Europe, and Asia—including extensive work with Chinese companies—and across industries as varied as technology, healthcare, financial services, trading, and mining. Patrick specializes in both long-term strategic program development and high-stakes communications around litigation, proxy contests, regulatory challenges, and other critical events. His expertise lies in navigating complex environments and shaping narratives that resonate with stakeholders and regulators alike.
Most recently, he served as Chief Communications Officer at InterDigital, a NASDAQ-listed mid-cap focused on wireless and video technology R&D. In that role, he led a comprehensive transformation of the company’s public image following a failed sale process. He built and executed an integrated communications strategy—spanning public relations, investor relations, public affairs, and marketing—that contributed to a significant financial turnaround and positioned InterDigital as a thought leader in technology innovation and IP licensing across Washington, Brussels, and Beijing.
Prior to InterDigital, Patrick was a Senior Vice President at FTI Consulting, where he led strategic communications initiatives for clients in the technology and financial sectors. His work supported successful M&A transactions and capital markets events, and he played a key role in shaping favorable regulatory outcomes for proprietary trading firms in Washington.
Earlier in his career, Patrick spent more than a decade in print and broadcast journalism, and has counseled companies in a very wide range of industries. He holds a Master’s in Communications from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor’s in English from Concordia University in Montreal. He currently lectures at Université Catholique de l’Ouest and ESSCA School of Business in Angers, France, and is fluent in both French and English.
