Shane Doucet, the founder of Doucet Consulting Solutions, has been involved in politics nearly all his life having grown up Louisiana where politics is king. For nearly 25 years, Mr. Doucet has assisted corporations, trade associations, coalitions, foreign governments and NGOs in developing and implementing strategies to achieve their legislative and regulatory goals. He has represented many sectors including environment, trade, health care, public pensions, law enforcement, transportation, national security and high-tech during his 25 years in Washington, D.C. His deep understanding of the legislative process and public policy development allows him to effectively champion his clients’ interests despite changing political landscapes.
Before entering the private sector, Mr. Doucet gained invaluable experience on Capitol Hill. While working for Congressman Chris John, he authored the Rural Education Development Initiative (REDI) Act, which was signed into law as part of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. He also led successful reform efforts to the Superfund law on behalf of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), culminating in the unanimous passage of the Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfields Revitalization Act. It was these experiences that enabled Mr. Doucet to build extensive relationships over the years in the White House, the U.S. House and U.S. Senate that allow him to directly influence policy outcomes for clients.
A military veteran, Mr. Doucet served for 23 years in the District of Columbia National Guard. With his experience in population health, Mr. Doucet initiated an education program “Wellness Warrior” to help soldiers and airmen improve and maintain their physical, mental and social health and well-being. He also supported efforts for enhanced educational benefits for Guard members and the creation of a District of Columbia National Guard Youth Challenge Program to help mentor and educate at-risk youth.
Though retired, Mr. Doucet continues his dedication to the military by serving on the Advisory Council for Project Recover, a collaborative effort to enlist 21st-Century science and technology in a quest to find and repatriate Americans missing in action (MIA) since World War II, providing recognition and closure for families and the Nation.
A gifted writer, Mr. Doucet’s work has been featured in in The Hill newspaper, Morning Consult, the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. He has also been featured in the Wall Street Journal for his work on behalf of Louisiana clients impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
A recognized authority on various public policy topics, he is a sought-after speaker at national conferences including the featured trade speaker with Canadian Members of Parliament on U.S. - Canada trade relations in the first Trump administration. He recently moderated a trade discussion this year at the Borderplex Summit Global Conference before
industry representatives and diplomats from Canada, Ireland and Mexico.
Mr. Doucet has a B.A. in History and English from Tulane University and M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies with distinction from the U.S. Naval War College.
