Shellie is founder and principal of Concrete Advisors, a boutique professional services firm providing strategic communications consulting and executive coaching. The firm helps organizations and leaders convert potentially vague or abstract aims into concrete actions that connect with people and achieve business results. It is her passion and a privilege to help organizations and people become their best. As a career long communicator, she takes a language-centric approach to consulting and coaching and believes in the potentially transformative power of meaningful conversations.
Since 2019 Concrete Advisors has had the privilege of partnering with clients ranging from emerging organizations in the arts and sciences to Fortune 500 enterprises in consumer products, health care, and financial services. Offerings include strategic planning, workshop creation and facilitation, individual and team learning and development, and writing of all types for executives and leaders including messaging, speeches, annual reports, organization and change communications. Recently she served as fractional communications leader for bioscience enterprises.
Shellie has coached, led, managed, mentored, and trained individuals and teams all over the world for decades. Before starting my firm, she held executive positions such as chief strategy officer, chief learning officer, and managing director of consultant practice groups with major global communications firms including Edelman, Ogilvy, and Burson. Roles spanned local, regional, and global responsibilities. Shellie began her career in public relations for New York City-based cultural institutions such as The National Academy of Design, New York Public Library, and Museum of the Moving Image. She also wrote for ArtNews and other arts publications as well as museum and gallery exhibition catalogues.
Credentials include certificates in executive coaching and organization development from New York University and Columbia University respectively, practitioner certification in DiSC assessment, and a strong working knowledge and practical application of Gallup StrengthsFinders. Shellie is educated as an art historian originally, earning a B.A. with high honors from the University of Michigan, and a M.A. from NYU’s Institute of Fine Arts. Museums have always been one of her happiest places.
